A systems problem at Edinburgh's air traffic control meant no aircraft could arrive or depart from the facility.

Flight operations have restarted at Scotland's primary international airport after a substantial ATC system failure brought the international hub to a standstill.

All aircraft movements were suspended after an systems problem that occurred at about 08:30.

Some passengers found themselves stranded in jets at the stand during the disruption.

Operations Restart with Continued Disruption

Officials announced at 10:40 that operations had restarted, and thanked passengers for their "patience and understanding".

However, considerable delays are anticipated to persist for some time. Services bound for London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been called off, with numerous other services subject to postponements.

Officials had initially projected that dozens of flights could be impacted.
