Just as Storm Claudia tore through the northern region the night before, the home side overwhelmed the visitors aside at the Etihad. It was a emphatic three goal triumph for Andrée Jeglertz’s side due to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that clearly signaled their championship potential as they strengthened their position at the WSL pinnacle.

The home side, on the other hand, could have added to their cushion when a delightful Miedema long ball sent Shaw away only for her to fail to convert but it was insignificant to the winning team. Having failed to overcome any side who placed above them in the prior term, the manager's side now have wins against the Gunners and United to position them in a favorable standing after the opening fixtures.
