A female charged with pursuing Kate McCann apparently recorded her a voicemail message which posed: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who witnesses stated has persistently asserted she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges indicted with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told communication data and evidence retrieved from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a biological test throughout that period.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is one of the most publicized child disappearance cases and is still unsolved.

'I Don't Want Money'

Another phone message, shared in court, captured Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm heavy and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I know what I believe."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "What if there is a slight possibility that I am she? What happens next? Wouldn't that be crucial for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a living here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the message continued.

The tribunal was advised that through emails, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a DNA test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who collated the evidence, told the court there "seemed to lack any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore contacted family friends of the McCanns, according to the communication logs.

On that date, Gerry McCann responded to a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "the wrong phone."

During that incident Ms Wandelt recorded a voicemail on Mrs McCann's answerphone stating "I won't give up and I will prove my claim."

The court was informed the co-defendant established a relationship online with Ms Wandelt prior to assisting her on a visit to the McCanns' property in that area in that winter.

Call logs revealed Mrs Spragg had contacted through communication app to Mrs McCann to express the press had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be taken seriously in the time leading up to the visit to the village, the county, in that winter.

The court heard communications between the two individuals, in that autumn, considering attempting to obtain Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her garbage or from silverware at a restaurant.

"We need to assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg advised Ms Wandelt.

On the occasion of the trip to their home, the defendant transmitted a text which stated: "We're currently positioned adjacent to the McCanns' home with our vehicle dark resembling private investigators. I desired to achieve this with someone else I never thought I would be involved in this with the McCanns."
